Throughout the whole week, we saw the tricolor jersey of the French champion at the front of the race, fighting with the top contenders. Achieving several top10 results, he was at the 6th place overall on the eve of the final stage.
At this moment, he admitted : “If I keep this 6th place, I’ll be very proud of my race. But I know that nothing is guaranteed, I will have to defend it to the end." He did much better than that!
In the final stage, involving the ascension of the Col d'Eze and the finish at the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, Arthur made a smart race. He was always in the right place, waiting for the right moment. There were a group of twenty riders fighting for the victory, and in the final sprint, the French champion was imperial. He claimed victory in front of Joaquin Rojas and Cyril Gautier.
With the time bonuses, he jumped from 6th to 3rd place in the final classification!
A top level performance which takes him to 6th place in the UCI World Tour, dominated by Carlos Betancur (AG2R ), winner of this Paris-Nice.
Nacer Bouhanni started the race with a stage victory, and held onto the yellow jersey for 2 days. Arthur Vichot finished the same way. Awesome week for FDJ.fr team!
