French championships in Auron // Gold for Bruni & Vergier, bronze for Ragot!
The French MTB Championships took place in Auron this week-end, in the Maritime Alpes. The young guns from Team Lapierre Gravity Republic (Loic Bruni and Loris Vergier) were riding on their home turf, and motivated to win.
They did not miss the boat! Impressively focused and dominating the track throughout the whole weekend, Loic Bruni claimed the national title in the Elite Men category, in his 1st season in the Elites! Winner of qualifications with a 2.5 second gap, he won the final 4 seconds ahead of Rémi Thirion. Only 19 years old, the Lapierre rider displayed incredible serenity and confirms his current status as leader of the French DH. Wait and see what the future brings ...
In the Juniors, same thing! Just like his friend and teammate Loic, Loris Vergier became French champion in his 1st year in the Junior category! After a big injury early in the year, the season is now well underway for Loris, he keeps winning weekend after weekend! Enduro, DH, nothing stops him...
Then in the womens, Emmeline Ragot was on course to keep her title and secure a Grand Slam for Team LP. She won the qualification with a six second gap ahead of Floriane Pugin. In the final, however, Floriane Pugin, took the
win and her first national jersey, Myriam Nicole came in 2nd, but still a nice 3rd place and another podium for Emmeline! She can look ahead confidently to the rest of the season. Next step, the World Cup in Andorra in 15 days. Ragot, 2nd for the moment, looks forward to it!
1st year Elite for Loic Bruni and already french champion!
