Pulsium

The Pulsium is the new Team FDJ.fr standard for long classics and difficult road races. A new competition ready frame, marries absorption with power, comfort with performance. With this new weapon, you will conquer your fear of spending hours in the saddle or taking on cobbles!

At the launch of the Pulsium project, the Lapierre engineers were given a simple task: creating a bike built for difficult terrain that absorbs vibration better than any other model. After 1 year of development they have nailed it, with this all-new carbon frame. Its geometry and unique tube design make it a frame that is very easy on the body. It offers significant vertical flexibility, while maintaining the lateral rigidity indispensable to any racing bike worthy of a UCI World Tour team.

Thanks to its all-new SAT (Shock Absorption Technology), one of the most significant innovations of this year, as well as its new specific assembly of carbon fibres and its endurance geometry, the Pulsium is a frame whose absorption of uneven terrain and rider protection are peerless.

Power Box technology is included (lower part of the frame, dedicated to power), so that nothing goes to waste. Already proven on the Xelius EFI, it gives the bike exceptional rigidity for full-tilt acceleration.

The Pulsium range is made up of 3 standard models, plus 2 models included on the Ultimate programme. They are all equipped with reliable components, 100% dedicated to performance: compact 11-speed Shimano drivetrain, Shimano brakes, Mavic or Shimano wheels, Zipp cockpit, Fizik saddle, etc.

 

Absorption technologies: 

  • SAT (Shock Absorption Technology) ► elastomer ring that absorbs flex between seat tube and top tube

  • 27.2 mm seat tube ► 27% increase in vertical flex from previous Sensium models

  • Curved, slender seatstays: they behave like leaf springs

     

  • Front fork with optimised rigidity and increased offset (50 mm rather than 43 mm, for better handling): works similarly to the seatstays

  • Curved top tube ► facilitates flex under traction and in compression, as well as fork-flex absorption

  • Reworked carbon fibre assembly: specific assembly depending on the function of each tube, all fibres used have a Young modulus of 40t and less, various fibres used (Young modulus of 24t and 30t) for better impact resistance and better vibration absorption.

Power technologies

  • Incorporation of Power Box technology: oversized head tube, down tube, bottom bracket shell and chainstays (same lateral rigidity as the Xelius EFI) and maximised carbon fibre length à Optimum pedal-power transfer.

 

Other technologies

  • Geometry specific to endurance (6 sizes): chainstays same length as on the Sensium for stability, shock absorption and tyre clearance; head tube 5 mm higher than on the Sensium for a more comfortable ride position

  • Rear brake calliper adjustable with adapter à compatible with long calliper or short calliper, and compatible with tires up to 700 x 32c

  • Integrated seat clamp

  • Cabling routed through the top tube à reduced noise on uneven ground
