Vuelta - Geniez's day!

The roads of the Tour of Spain suit the FDJ team well! After a tough Tour de France, Thibaut Pinot is back in business on the Vuelta. At the front for several days, he is now in seventh place of the overall classification.

But on the 15th stage yesterday, it was his lieutenant Alexandre Geniez who distinguished himself by winning the queen stage of the Pyrenees! Part of the breakaway group of 27 riders, only 6 remained after the big climbs.  At the beginning of the Port of Bales, Alexandre escaped with André Cardoso (Caja Rural) and then dropped him in the downhill to Luchon. He powered up the final climb to the summit of Peyragudes and won over 3 minutes ahead of the 2nd rider!

Undoubtedly the greatest victory of his career for the young 25 year old rider who’s in his first season with the FDJ team. Another week of racing for the FDJ team now, to support Thibaut Pinot in the overall classification.
